Director
Mike Zimmer of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
(LARA) announced a change in leadership roles this past Wednesday.
Former
LARA Deputy Director Kevin Elsenheimer will now serve as the
department’s Chief Deputy Director. He will continue to serve as
the Director of Workers’ Compensation Agency in addition to his new
responsibilities, of which include overseeing the department’s
Freedom of Information Act Office, Office of Regulatory Reinvention,
Michigan Liquor Control Commission, Office of Policy and Legislative
Affairs, and Michigan Administrative Hearing System.
Shelly
Edgerton is currently the LARA Deputy Director and has newly been
named the Chief Data Systems Officer. In her positions, Edgerton
acts as an executive liaison between LARA and organizations such as
the Department of Technology, Management and Budget and will also
oversee the Bureau of Employment Relations, Bureau of Heath Care
Services, Bureau of Corporations, Securities and Commercial
Licensing, and the Bureau of Construction Codes.
Al
Pohl will continue to serve as Chief Financial Officer and Director
of Finance and Administrative Services but has also been named a
Deputy Director as well. With this position, Pohl will now be
responsible for the oversight of the Bureau of Fire Services,
Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the
Bureau for Blind Persons.
Lastly,
the former senior executive assistant deputy director Karen Towne
will now serve as the senior executive assistant director and
continue her duties as the emergency management coordinator for the
department.
